Slag.
The raw material of the future

The production of pig iron and steel produces a valuable raw material: slag, so-called iron mill slag. 11 million tons of this artificial rock which is very similar to volcanic rock are produced in Germany every year. In Europe, the figure is 35 million tons. Much of it – around 95% – is used in cement, concrete, fertilisers or other useful products.

As a true multi-talent, slag contributes to ensuring that structures are more durable, motorways quieter and safer, and crops grow more productively. It is cost-effective to produce, environmentally friendly, and saves resources by acting as a substitute for natural raw materials. That is good for the environment and good for business.
